Supracor Tension Adjustable Back
I recently received one of the new Tension Adjustable Backrests from Supracor and I am very impressed. I have used Supracor cushions on my wheelchairs for as long as I can remember and absolutely loved them. Now, I can match the same superior design of my cushion with my backrest, taking a lot of pressure off my spine. Being a high-level paraplegic, I put a lot of weight into the backrest of my chair and my boney spine has been an area of breakdown for years. This new backrest has completely eliminated any issue or worry.
Supracor took a 1 inch thick piece of there proven honeycomb cushion material and wrapped it in a super durable, breathable fabric with 3 tension-adjusting straps under a hidden flap on the back side. This conceals the straps and keeps them in place. The fabric section next to your skin is very breathable and keeps sweat and water off your skin. and just like the cushions, it is washer and dryer cleanable.
I have used ADI carbon and composite backrests on my chairs in the past to try and get an added level of support without having to worry about tightening straps all the time or having to replace the back upholstery after it stretches out and creates a sling that gives me minimal support. The Supracor backrest is lighter than the ADI backrests and gives me the adjustability that I want without having to tighten the straps all the time. and for added posture and comfort, you can add the optional lumbar support pad as well.
These backrests come in a 16 inch high and a 12 inch high version with multiple widths available. I suggest measuring your backrest bar width and going with a 1 inch skinnier size to allow for the fabric to stretch a bit over time.
