Kenda Kwest Tires
Kenda has done it again! The Kwest tire, another in the Iron CAP line up, is winner! This wider, more all-around-use tire is great for those who venture just a bit off the beaten path. The wider tire tread (1.5 inches) keeps these tires from digging into the sand and grass. I wouldn't recommend then for the beach as the tread wont give you much traction in really soft conditions, but some people will be able to take these tires anywhere. The tread is really cool looking and and very smooth on the pavement. I chose the gray rubber for the tread with the wild blue sidewalls. To me it reminded me of a motorcycle tire in the style of the tread. I even put them on my billet wheels to make it look even more like a real motorcycle wheel.
The grey rubber compound is up to par with Kenda's other tires. A completely non-marking rubber that lasts a good long time. And, with the Iron CAP (Casing Added Protection) technology, your risk of flats are almost none. For me, the added width is a good thing, but it is a bit of extra weight, especially on the billet wheels for rolling around the city on a daily basis. So, I don't run these wheels on my chair much, unless I am heading out to a place that I want a bit of extra flash ans class, like a motorcycle show or custom truck event. Regardless, I still give these tires a two thumbs up stamp of approval! As of now, Kenda only makes these in a 26 inch size (40-559) for wheelchairs or a 20" for junior chairs.
