Top End Force (Force 2) Handcycle
Top End’s flagship into the intermediate to advanced racing handcycle, the Force (and Force 2) is a great bike. They are very comfortable to ride, even for long distances. There is plenty of padding in the seat upholstery and the curve and position of the backrest are just right. There is still a good amount of adjustability in the Force bikes, from the crank position to the backrest recline. The foot loops are adjustable for different height riders as well. This way you can fine tune just where you want to sit and right where you want the cranks positioned in front of you. Also, the Force bikes are quite upgradable for aftermarket parts such as wheels, gears and brake set ups. You can easily upgrade to a set of Zipp or Spinergy wheels as you advance. Even the derailleurs can be upgraded for lighter ones or with different gears for different terrain.
The frame is very lightweight and quite rigid, even under powerful uphill cranking. I found very little if any flex when really digging in on those uphill climbs. And with a strong aircraft aluminum frame, the Force is a very fast bike. Be careful, though, as the frame is very low to the ground. It aids in the aerodynamics of the bike but can get you caught on curbs and high spots if you are not paying attention.
I must say I was very pleased with the Top End Force. If you are looking to get competitive, this bike is a perfect choice. It is fast, lightweight, upgradable and adjustable to find just what you want in a bike. The Force is a very popular handcycle and rightly so. Not to mention the pricing is very easy on the wallet, coming in around $4000 for a well-appointed racer.
